It’s been a busy past few weeks but I did find time to have some fun with watercolor markers! I found it to be super relaxing after a long day at work!
For one of my first attempts at using watercolor markers & water brushes I used a beautiful background stamp from Hero Arts. The first try didn’t turn out so great but the second one was frame-worthy! :)
I didn’t have watercolor paper on hand so instead used a sturdy paper from Gmund (BlancBeige). When using not too much water you can prevent this paper from warping and still get a very nice watercolor effect. Make sure to use a pigment ink that is water-resistant when dry to stamp the image you are coloring in! My favorite ink that coordinates perfectly with watercolor markers and other watercolor tools is Onyx Black (Versafine).
What made this project complete was adding the sentiment and rhinestone using a similar pink color as the flowers from the background. I tried blue and yellow and green as well but didn’t like how all those colors diverted attention from the flowers. So I settled on pink and it turned out great! The sentiment is from the Adored set by Ali Edwards. The ink used is Peony ColorBox Pigment Ink. Emboss the sentiment using WOW! embossing powder for an elegant dimensional effect. The rhinestone is from Hero Arts as well.
Before placing the finished piece into the frame I glued it onto cardboard for added sturdiness, plus added 3D-foam in all four corners to create a 3mm-gap to bridge the extra dimension added by the rhinestone.
Have a wonderful week everyone! :)
